We believe that people should have the choice to return their loved ones, untainted, back to nurture the soil, just as has been done for most of human existence.

Everything we do will be gentle and in tune with nature. Returning the body to the soil just seems the right thing to do - for the body, for the families, and for Mother Earth.

We will take it slowly. We want to create experiences that are meaningful and true – a celebration of the life lived; a respectful and beautiful ritual at the end of their journey.

As featured on ABC, Channel 7, and the Sydney Morning Herald.

“We give an option to people to bury their loved ones back into the soil, just like we have done for 99% of human existence.

It’s how it’s meant to be: providing both nutrients for the soil for future life and habitat for wildlife. It just seems so right!”

Fiona McCuaig, Founder

"So many people tell us they just want to be buried amongst the trees in a forest - finally people will have this option in NSW."

Ben Stainer – Infrastructure Director and Fiona’s husband

  • Walawaani Way was established to give people the choice of simple burial back into the soil, surrounded by a forest of trees & native vegetation - a gift back to the planet that sustained their lives. It will always be protected and can be visited by generations in the years to come, offering a beautiful restful landscape in which to remember.

  • Should you wish, Lauren Newman, Director - Tree of Life Funerals/

Shanna Provost - Funeral Celebrant and specialist End of Life Educator

Jordan Nye can offer a Walawaani Way ceremony from the First Nations Yuin peoples. It would be a celebration of music, dance, and ritual: a celebration back to Country.
